Transit Radio consists of four motivated and talented teenagers, whose serious work ethic and determination transpire into each other their very mature level of musicality. The band is fronted by Gerry Champagne (guitar/vocals), the newest member of the group is Josh Sos (guitar), and the rhythm section is David Leschiutta (bass), and Calen Stuckel (drums). Though the band is young and extremely high energy, they have spent a significant amount of time developing their individual crafts…combined they are tight musical machine. As far as originality goes they have been working on songwriting for over four years now. Gerry and Dave were the main creative forces behind the original material melding, the sound of the rhythm section and the lyric and melody. The band has always approached the writing process from the perspective of how they LISTEN to music. So the music that they love to listen to directly inspires the music that they create. Blink-182, The Alkaline Trio, Taking Back Sunday, Green Day and The Cure are just a few examples of the bands greatest influences. Since the official beginning of Transit Radio in Spring 2003, the band has committed many accomplishments to their name. First and foremost, they competed against 7 local bands including Cassidy, Sinclair and the Souljah Fyah in the Canada Day Battle of the Bands held at Festival Place in Sherwood Park. They were awarded a $1000 recording package at Homestead Recorders in Edmonton, which has recently been redeemed. In Summer 2003 they recorded their first full-length album entitled, “We Need More Glockenspiel.” The CD contains the bands earliest material which is much more raw and undefined than their latest recordings. The debut CD sold about 200 copies all around Edmonton and area, strictly from off stage sales. Transit Radio has just recently recorded a very definite sounding EP at Homestead Recorders that was produced with Lane Allen and Floyd Cole. Barry Allen’s involvement on the project was also very beneficial. The band plans to use the new recording as a starting point for a full-length album, which will be completed in the year to come.
