Leaving Juneau is a constant evolution. With roots beginning in 2002, the gang of four that make up Leaving Juneau have been writing and playing music with a passion that has set them up for continued success. Jeff had a stint fronting and writing for local emo-rock act Sierra in 2003/04. The writing progress began with solo songs turned into full band pieces, and continued into writing as a full band. Once Sierra disbanded, Jeff decided to write, record, and play under the moniker 'Leaving Juneau' - a metaphor for music's ability to remove oneself from life's sometimes cold but true hardships. Following a few successful local solo shows, Jeff hooked up with Nick Bryant (ex-Sierra drummer) and Adam Dingle (ex-Stillframe bassist) to fill out the Leaving Juneau sound. The trio headed into the studio in the summer of 2005 and recorded their debut full length, titled "Get Out of the Weather". A flowing combination of laid-back alt-folk tunes and upbeat indie tracks, "Get Out of the Weather" captures the diversity of Leaving Juneau's sound and was released independently in December 2005. Once the record was released, the trio that was Leaving Juneau needed to quench their constant thirst for musical progression and change, they made the choice to add a 4th member on keyboards - one Olga Messinis. The next couple of months were spent hidden in the studio, writing new parts for old songs to accomodate the addition.
